About the magnificent artwork to the left:
This began as a statement piece, something about obesity and the sugar-addiction of the western world, but with a nod to Alice in Wonderland it developed into something much more fun.
About the Artist
If you had two lines to describe yourself, what would they be? //
You can find me in a quiet corner doodling in my sketch pad. I believe art magnifies and teaches us about life, in all its chaos and beauty.
Do you have a favourite style or inspiration? //
I love the poster art of the 1920s and 30s, the thin black line and delicate colour. But I'm also drawn to 70s psychedelia, so there's probably a bit of both in my work! I am most comfortable using pen and watercolour but have also embraced the freedom and opportunities of working digitally. I flit between media because I get bored quickly!
I've got a time machine out in the garden, who are we visiting? //
The British photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, who pushed the boundaries of her art and gender in the late 19th Century. Her beautiful haunting images seem to capture the human soul.
So, the all important question, if you where a superhero, which one would you be? //
As a true 80s girl it has to be Cheetara from Thundercats.
